We Share...

June 17, 2023 was a day of Jubilation and Thanksgiving for the Medical Sisters of St.Francis of Assisi, Pithora, as we joined our dear Sr.M.Gerburg to celebrate her Sapphire (65th) Jubilee of her Religious Consecration at Anjali Niketan, Pithora. It was a day of thanking to God for His faithfulness and fidelity.

The Eucharistic celebration was preceded by a solemn procession to the Chapel with a beautiful entrance dance by our Candidates. Most Rev. Victor Henry Thakur, the Archbishop of the Arch diocese of Raipur presided the Holy Eucharist along with eighteen Priests. Many religious from neighboring convents and friends of our denary and Raipur diocese joined us for this graceful celebration.

In response to God’s call Sr. M. Gerburg joined the Medical Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi in Münster, Germany and made her first vow on 23rd May 1958. In the year 1974 at the age of 39 Sr.M.Gerburg left her home land Germany and landed in our mother land India, in the Archdiocese of Raipur, at Pithora Parish. A young, energetic and compassionate missionary, who never bothered about the inconveniences in her life because of ardent love for the Lord and Mother Mary, zealously served the poor, the unwanted and the sick people at Pithora. She sustained her missionary spirit even in every adverse situation. In every challenge she encountered an opportunity to serve the Lord who is present in every one. On her Sapphire jubilee we acknowledge, admire and appreciate her missionary spirit, commitment and love for the Lord who called her to be His own. We gratefully remember all who is part of her life.
