My First Profession of Religious Vows

On November 22, 2025, the day of my First Profession of Religious Vows became a truly grace-filled and unforgettable moment in my spiritual journey. My heart was filled with deep joy, gratitude, and peace as I offered myself to God and officially became a member of the Medical Sisters of St. Francis Assisi.

The celebration began with a beautiful candle procession. Accompanied by my family and sisters, we walked together toward the chapel, symbolizing my journey from the light of Christ into a deeper commitment to His service. Carrying the candle reminded me of Christ’s guiding presence and my call to be His light in the world.

We then entered the chapel for a solemn Mass, during which I professed my vows in the presence of the congregation. Standing before Archbishop Victor Henry Thakur, priests, the sisters, my family members, and relatives, I felt profoundly blessed. The moment of professing my vows was one of deep surrender and joy. As the hymn to the Holy Spirit was sung, I felt the fruits and gifts of the Spirit pouring into my heart, and I was deeply touched by this grace-filled moment. It was a moment of complete surrender to God’s will and a public affirmation of my desire to follow Christ in the spirit of St. Francis.

A special grace for me that day was the repeated proclamation of my favourite Bible verse from John 15:16: “You did not choose me, but I chose you.” When my family and relatives sang a hymn based on this Scripture, I felt the words touching my heart again and again. It was as if Jesus Himself was personally reminding me of His loving call and choosing me for His mission. This verse strengthened my commitment and filled me with consolation and confidence.

The entire celebration was graceful, prayerful, and memorable. Every moment—every prayer, every hymn, and every blessing—was filled with joy. I am deeply grateful to God for His faithfulness and love, and to my sisters for their support, guidance, and encouragement throughout my formation.

My First Profession marked the beginning of a new chapter in my religious life. I feel blessed and honoured to be part of the OSF family and to follow Christ more closely through the vows I have professed. With a thankful heart, I entrust my life and vocation to God, confident that He who has chosen me will continue to guide me faithfully.
