On October 5th, 2023 St.Francis Nivas was beset to welcome our special guests for the Golden Jubilee of our presence in India. We welcomed them expressing that for Indians; Guest is equivalent to God ‘aditi devo bhava’. It is said that Indian hospitality is deeply rooted in the veins of Indian customs & traditions. We welcomed them in an exuberant mode with the various greeting rituals that are offered to guests in different parts of India.

In North Indian style the sisters were welcomed by Garlanding, Aarti and tilak, on their forehead.

In South Indian style by lighting the Nila Vilakku, strewing of flowers, honouring with Ponnada, expressing with the gesture of ‘Vanakkam’, Drawing Kolam (also known as Rangoli) and with the Purna KUMBHAM representing the universe.

After this ritual of welcome, the guests were given important information on the culture and traditions of India, the state of Chhattisgarh and the Archdiocese of Raipur through a video clip. The guests expressed their joy for the warm welcome ceremony.
