Blessing of St.Joseph’s Bhawan, Sebiyoor

“For now, I have chosen and consecrated this house that my name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will be there all time.”
(2 Chronicles 7:16)
The newly constructed convent building, St.Joseph’s Bhawan, the 17th establishment of our province was blessed and inaugurated on Thursday 19th January 2023. Consecration of the convent chapel and blessing of the convent building was officiated by Mar Thomas Chakiath Bishop Emeritus of Ernakulam- Angamaly Major Archdiocese. Sister M. Margarete, our General Superior inaugurated the said convent building. Dr. Msgr. Antony Perumayan, Vicar General of Ernakulam-Angamaly Major Archdiocese solemnised the Holy Eucharistic celebration.
In his message Mar Bishop Emeritus Thomas Chakiath blessed and welcomed us with his fraternal blessings and he assured the people that our presence will bring comfort and consolation for those in need unfolding and witnessing the Franciscan values.
Sister M.Margarete, our General Superior expressed that as she entered in the new chapel, she was inspired by the statue of St. Joseph who holds in one hand the baby Jesus, and in his other hand a lily flower is open for anyone to hold. She said St. Joseph invites us to dare the ways of God, to engage with God's call again and again with confidence. May our Mother Mary, our faithful intercessor help us on all our ways! Sr.M.Rita our General Vicaress was present for the ceremony.
Sr.M.Johncy, the provincial superior presented the note of a brief history of our congregation and of our presence in Sebiyoor. She shared that it was one of the felt needs of our province to have a mission house in Kerala which will serve as a transit house for the sisters serving in our north Indian mission stations. She added in her message; as the Lord makes his dwelling here in this house in sacramental form, alongside we strive to create within ourselves a dwelling place for him. She welcomed and thanked everyone for their presence for this graceful occasion.
The blissful event was graced by the presence of our Sisters, Fr.Sherin Puthanpurackel, the Parish Priest of St.Sebastian Parish, Sebiyoor, Mr. Roji M.John the Member of Legislate Assembly (MLA) Angamaly, around twenty priests, sisters from neighbouring communities, almost six hundred people from locality including Sebiyoor parishnors, many non-Christians and well-wishers. Sister M.Sabeena the convent superior thanked each and every one for their presence and support.
